Front and Rear Systems
Reducing cost and weight while maintaining aesthetics is vitally important in front and rear systems. To meet your aesthetic, performance, and processing requirements, Dow Automotive offers a range of TPO and RIM polyurethane materials. These products are based on decades of experience working with customers to reduce weight and cost. Specific applications include fascia, bumper beams, carrier systems and lighting surrounds. Dow Automotive has recently commercialized a front-end-carrier of two-piece construction that utilizes both our plastic and adhesive technology expertise. BETAMATE LESA (low energy substrate adhesive) bonds polypropylene to metal to create a front-end-carrier with lower overall mass to reduce weight and cost while the adhesive adds stiffness improvement. In addition, Dow AUtomotive is working on design consolidation, modularization, material mix, energy management and assembly techniques for front and rear systems that address increased attention to pedestrian protection and reducing repair costs for low and medium-velocity impacts.
