Instrument Panels Substrates/Sub-Assemblies
Today, consumers are looking for cockpit styling, comfort, and more functionality from their instrument panels. In addition, engineers must meet safety, weight, and cost targets. To help you meet both consumer and engineering requirements, we offer materials for all types of IP systems, supported by design engineering. Applications include:
PULSE™ engineering resins provide top performance in tough applications, from single piece items to intricate components. These resins are ideal for energy management solutions and can withstand high and low temperature extremes and rapid, repeated fluctuations. DOW™ PolyPropylene RESiNS work well for a broad range of applications processed by injection molding, extrusion, blow molding or cast film. Due to low density, finished parts require less raw material than competitive resins, making polypropylene one of the most cost effective commodity plastics available. BETAMATE™ structural adhesives enabled the development of a bonded plastic-to-metal IP cross car beam structure that exhibits superior crash resistance and NVH performance versus traditional structures. For a listing of materials used in these applications, follow this link to Dow Automotive's Materials Finder.
