For an unprecedented third consecutive year with the diesel-powered Audi R10 TDI, Audi Sport has stifled the competition to capture the checkered flag at the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans, further validating the durability of its diesel engine technology. Sharing this win for the third year is Dow Automotive, a major technology and solutions provider to the global auto industry, which supports Audi Sport with its latest generation diesel particulate filter (DPF) system.

In congratulating the winning team of Rinaldo Capello, Tom Kristensen, and Allan McNish, Dow Automotive President Peter Sykes stated, “To win at Le Mans is a special experience, and for Audi Sport to capture back-to-back-to-back wins is a truly impressive achievement. The win has added significance for Dow Automotive, Audi Sport and the future of clean diesel technology. For the first time, all three Audi Sport R10 TDIs ran on a biofuel blend called Biomass to Liquids (BTL), which is extracted from biowaste, and has shown a 90 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emission compared to traditional diesel. Dow Automotive’s DPF adapted to the fuel change and retained its robust performance.

Dow Automotive’s advanced DPFs are specifically designed to meet stringent Audi Sport performance requirements and are lightweight, compact and contribute to lower overall vehicle mass. The unique DPF design dramatically reduces particulate emissions and produces very low back pressure, which provides optimum engine power, torque performance and fuel efficiency.
